Week of November 2-8

Daylight Saving Time ends…

• • Missionary Christmas Offering #2, Nov. 2…As a reminder, this is the second of two weeks we have allocated for contributions to the annual Missionary Christmas Offering (refer to the general note at the top of this activity listing for more details). Thank you for your generosity. A list of these missionaries can be found on the table at the back of the sanctuary.

  • Ladies Lunch, Nov. 2…All ladies of the church are invited to gather together for lunch the first Sunday of each month immediately after the church service. Meet on Sunday November 2 at McAlister’s Deli in Gurnee, located in the Grand Hunt Center at 6557 Grand Avenue (in the outer drive near Helzberg Diamonds). This is an ongoing invitation—no sign-up, just come if you can on each first Sunday. See Becky Martens if you have any questions.

  • Sunday Small Group, Nov. 2…The Sunday Small Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Sundays each month at 4:30 p.m. (via ZOOM). This group, continuing where they left off last May, is studying from a LifeGuide book by J. I. Packer called Meeting God. If you’d like to know more about this study group or get the information to join a meeting, either contact Jay or one of the leaders—Mike or Cindy Metcalf.

  • Identity Youth Group, Nov. 2…This group meets at the church from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. most Sunday evenings. All teens are encouraged to come enjoy a fun time together and to study the Word of God.

  • Identity Youth Group, Nov. 8…The teens will join the Maranatha Baptist Church Youth Group Harvest Fest on Saturday, November 8 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. More information will be provided by the youth group leaders to the teens and parents. The regular weekly Identity Youth Group meeting on November 9 is canceled as the Fall Harvest event replaces that meeting.

Week of November 9-15

• • Communion, Nov. 9…

  • Operation Christmas Child, Nov. 9…As is a tradition for GLBC, we provide special shoeboxes and labels for this ministry. Take the boxes home for filling (1 or more, if you like--no limit) and return them on either Sunday, November 9 or 16. At the end of Morning Worship on November 16, we’ll pray over the boxes. The boxes will then be taken the next day to a local drop-off location.

  • Prayer Meeting, Nov. 9…Prayer Meeting is held monthly on the second Sunday of each month. Join us on November 9 at 4:00 p.m. We will pray together as we focus on needs and praises for our church, our community, and beyond.

  • Ladies Bible Study, Nov. 12…The Ladies Bible Study normally meets every other Wednesday at the church at 6:30 p.m. However, due to the Thanksgiving holiday, this study will meet on November 12 only this month. The current study is written by Kay Arthur and is titled Choosing Victory, Overcoming Defeat: Joshua, Judges, Ruth. The group is currently studying Judges. Contact Becky Martens for more information.

  • Ladies Fellowship Breakfast, Nov. 15…This ministry meets on the 3rd Saturday of each month at Panera Bread on 254 E Rollins Road in Round Lake Beach. Meet at 8:30 a.m. on November 15 for fellowship time. Feel free to purchase coffee/breakfast as you arrive.

Week of November 16-22

• • Operation Christmas Child, Nov. 16…This is the last day to return your filled OCC box(es). When you arrive, please place your box(es) on the table at the front of the church. We’ll pray over the boxes at the end of Morning Worship. The boxes will then be taken the next day to a local drop-off location.

  • Sunday Small Group, Nov. 16…The Sunday Small Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Sundays each month at 4:30 p.m. (via ZOOM). Week of November 23-29

• Thanksgiving Praise Worship Service, Nov. 23…The Morning Worship service on November 23 will focus on praise and giving thanks. Following the service, we’ll meet back in the Fellowship Hall for pizza provided by the church. A dessert sign-up sheet will be provided for any dessert pies you may want to bring (optional).

Week of November 30-December 6

• Board Meeting, Nov. 30…The November Board Meeting will be held on Sunday, November 30 at 3:30 p.m. Please keep our church elders and deacons in prayer as they meet to discuss current business and plan for the coming months.
